Hyderabad, Sept. 13: Even though Chiranjeevi has entered politics, the functioning of the Praja Rajyam resembles a film. While addressing a press conference, the PR chief follows the tinsel town practice of "rehearsing before taking a shot."
This became evident on Saturday. Scribes were surprised when Chiranjeevi asked them to give him a questionnaire on issues for which mediapersons want to get answers. The former TD leader, Mr C. Ramachandraiah, MLC G. Haribabu Naidu (Srikakulam) formally joined the Praja Rajyam on Saturday at the party headquarters in the presence of Chiranjeevi. They had pledged their support for Chiranjeevi many days ago and Mr Ramachandraiah has been visiting the party office frequently.
Ramachandraiah’s formal admission into the PR was akin to a "take and retake" in a film. The Praja Rajyam leaders adopted the same technique when other leaders like Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao and Jyotula Nehru joined the PR. Even though these leaders were with Chiranjeevi much before the inception of the PR, they "joined" the party recently.
Political observers pointed out that as very few seasoned politicians were joining the party, the PR leaders were trying to create a hype by organising formal admissions of leaders who are already in the Chiranjeevi camp. Whenever a seasoned politician joins the party, Chiranjeevi introduces him to mediapersons and the latter addresses the press. In a similar fashion the PR chief introduced Ramachandraiah and Haribabu to the media on Saturday and addressed a brief press conference in which he said: "I welcome these leaders into PR. I will hit the road for a state-wide tour. We will disclose the itinerary soon."
When the scribes tried to ask him questions, the actor-turned-politician hurriedly walked out of the room promising to meet them in an hour. After the stipulated time when reporters reminded him of his promise the actor asked them to write down the questions and that he will answer them in a couple of days.
